Press release

ENKHUIZEN – EcoScan, the innovative recycling app, is now available within the Ximmio apps. Waste collector RAD is the first to offer this integration. Residents who use the RAD app can now simply scan a product's barcode or take a photo to get waste sorting advice straight away.
"This is a great step in our mission to make separating waste easier," says Rick Buiten, founder of the EcoScan app. "By integrating our technology into the Ximmio apps, we can reach even more residents and help them separate their waste correctly."
Smart waste sorting right in the RAD app
The RAD app already let residents look up collection days and the waste guide. Thanks to the integration with EcoScan, separating waste the right way becomes even easier.
How does it work?
- Users scan a product's barcode or take a photo.
- EcoScan recognises the product and sends the right information back to Ximmio.
- The app immediately gives advice based on the local waste policy.
"This means that users of the RAD app, the residents of the municipalities of Goeree-Overflakkee and Hoeksche Waard, can see in their familiar app which container their waste belongs in, without having to become an expert in waste separation," says Rick.
Working with Ximmio: a step forward in waste management
Ximmio provides apps for many waste collectors and municipalities and helps inform residents better about waste collection and processing. With the EcoScan integration, Ximmio now offers even smarter waste sorting within its platform.
"Our modular approach lets us stay flexible and integrate the best technologies," says Sami, CEO of Ximmio. "By working with specialists such as EcoScan, we can strengthen the quality and flexibility of our apps. This allows municipalities and waste collectors to offer residents an even better and more user-friendly solution."
"We see this collaboration as a great step," Rick adds. "Ximmio helps a huge number of waste collectors and municipalities inform residents better. We add smart technology to that, so separating waste becomes easier and more accessible."
EcoScan and the national yes/no list
EcoScan is linked to the national yes/no list for waste separation, so residents get consistent and correct advice on how to separate their waste. This ensures one clear policy and clarity for residents.
If the national list is not used, EcoScan can adapt the system per municipality, so the advice always matches the local waste policy. The list is also continuously updated with new products to keep it accurate and relevant.
"As waste management becomes more and more complex, it is essential that municipalities and residents can rely on up-to-date and accurate information about waste separation."
RAD: extra support for residents
RAD leads the way in innovation in waste management and is the first waste collector to implement EcoScan through Ximmio. Thanks to Ximmio's vision of continuously improving the quality of its products together with other suppliers, and of making room in the Ximmio Waste Platform for external plug-ins that improve the service, we can give our residents extra support in offering their raw materials correctly. This contributes to more efficient and more sustainable waste processing.
Recycling accessible to everyone
This collaboration lets waste collectors and municipalities support their residents even better in separating waste. It fits EcoScan's mission to make recycling accessible and fun.
"Our goal is to help as many people as possible separate their waste and reduce residual waste. Now reaching 1.3 million households, we show that small actions together make a big difference. Working with Ximmio lets us increase that impact enormously," says Rick.
Availability
The EcoScan functionality is now available in the RAD app. Ximmio can also offer this functionality within the apps of other waste collectors and municipalities.
With this collaboration, RAD, Ximmio and EcoScan are taking a big step together towards more sustainable waste management.
